What News Monitor actually does
The News Monitor reads the headlines and filings attached to the stocks on your watchlist, then tags each item so you can see whether the move is earnings, a deal, a downgrade, a filing or a headline with no obvious cause.
It is a context tool, not a signal. It shows what is public right now and when it was published, so a setup is never entered blind to the reason the stock is moving.
Capabilities
What it helps your agent ship
Pull headlines for one ticker or the whole watchlist.
Read recent SEC 8-K filings through EDGAR.
Tag items by theme such as earnings, deal, analyst or filing.
Show the day's move beside the news.
Limit the window with --hours so old stories stay out.
Identify yourself to the SEC with a user agent from config or env.
Workflow
The process the skill follows
A repeatable sequence keeps the agent from jumping straight into edits before it understands the job.

Pick the scope
Pass --tickers or point the tool at trader/watchlist.json.
- 02

- 05
Tag and report
